Keynote speakers
Mark Brown, Professor of Digital Learning and Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning, Dublin City University talked about "The Thing we Call Blended Learning: Bliss or Blight?"
What does a blended learning approach actually mean? Does blended learning go far enough in moving from digital in part to digital at heart? HE encouraged delegates to bend, buckle and break the concept of blending and think about how to design more creative, innovative and imaginative places and spaces for transformative learning, challenge their conceptions of teaching and the institutional cultures in which learning occurs and decide whether a focus on blending is bliss or blight in our efforts to harness the transformative potential of new digital technologies for better educational outcomes.
Keith Smyth and Alex Walker, University of the Highlands and Islands - "Rethinking professional development post-pandemic: Digitally enabled approaches for sustaining the enhancement of learning and teaching in changed times."
Discussed the challenges in professional development provision related to digital education practice, how colleges and universities can support staff in moving to online and hybrid learning and the long-term implications of COVID-19 for sustaining the enhancement of learning and teaching.
Thank you to all our delegates for joining us for an online celebration of best practice in learning, teaching and assessment in tertiary education.
