RETHINKING SKILLS SYMPOSIUM 2019

The impact which the pace of change is having on learning, skills and the future employability of students was keenly debated at City of Glasgow College’s recent education symposium.

The event brought together leading practitioners, academics and experts and was described as an excellent opportunity to chart a way forward for colleges.

Background

In the face of an increasingly uncertain and complex world, education can make the difference as to whether people embrace the challenges they are confronted with or whether they are defeated by them.

This valuable symposium provided an opportunity to debate the challenges ahead and discuss how tertiary education, in particular, offers an inclusive learning pathway as well as a pipeline of talent to meet the UK’s economic needs.

Focus

The emphasis of this year's symposium was on rethinking skills with delegates debating how best to prepare and equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills they will need to thrive in and shape their world.
