Personal and Social Development: Transitions (Level 3/4)

  • Glasgow: Tuesday 9:30am- 12pm
  • East Dunbartonshire: Thursday 9:30am- 12pm

The aim of this course is to assist students with Asperger’s Syndrome to make a successful transition from school to Further Education and Training.

The experienced and qualified staff team has a range of generic and subject-specific expertise enabling them to provide a broad curriculum that meets the needs of a wide range of individuals and ensures that students are fully prepared for their next step.

The group will develop communication skills, social skills, and confidence activities during the course will include:

  • Communication
  • Critical Thinking
  • Problem Solving
  • Creative Skills

This may involve Expressive Arts, Film & Media, and a range of Community Projects designed to suit the group.

Entry Requirements

Students must have a diagnosis of ASD, be working towards SCQF level 3-4 in English/Numeracy and want to continue their studies in further education.

Interested students will attend a taster session and an observation will be part of the selection process.

Progression Pathways

With the appropriate entry criteria students may be able to progress to:

  • Full Time Transitions Programme.
  • Mainstream college courses in vocational areas of choice.

Employment Prospects

Generally, this course encourages students to apply to a range of Further Education mainstream courses within City of Glasgow College or other colleges.
