Hospitality NPA (Level 5)

The purpose of this course is to give students an awareness of the different sectors of the hospitality industry alongside developing current key skills and knowledge for employment within the sector

The programme focuses on a practical introduction to the industry and the job roles as a whole within front of house. Restaurant and Barista skills service are key learning elements of this course. The course also develops guest care skills and a wide range of transferable essential skills which could be advantageous for career choices in hospitality and other sectors.

You will learn about the importance of customer care in the hospitality industry and how this contributes to the success of an organisation. You will develop customer service skills and explore how to establish good relationships with customers.

You will investigate the importance of IT to the hospitality sector.  You will learn how to organise and manage information in administration-related contexts.  You will create and edit business documents using a variety of IT applications covering word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

You will develop your employability skills across this course.  You will develop a range of transferable skills including communication, teamwork, being flexible and adaptable, and having respect and consideration for others.   You will consider the job roles and responsibilities of the people working within the industry, and explore what qualifications are required for these roles and progression routes

Entry Requirements

This course would suit personable, outgoing and enthusiastic students who have achieved several National 4 subjects and be currently studying at least 1 other subject at National 5.

Successful completion of the NPA will enable you to make informed decisions on a progression route that matches your abilities, aspirations and goals.

Combined with other qualifications, this course puts you on a progression pathway through NQ at Level 6 to HND at Level 8 in either Hospitality Management, Travel & Tourism or Events Management.
