Conferencing and Events
Welcome to City of Glasgow College Events and Conferencing Services
We have a variety of meeting and conference rooms, as well as sports halls and other flexible open spaces, available for hire within our state of the art campus buildings in Glasgow City Centre and offer a welcome alternative to traditional hotels and conference centres.
All room bookings are managed by the Events Team. Here’s how we can help you to plan a successful event:

- Efficient and cost-effective way to manage your event.
- We will take care of the practicalities, allowing you to focus on the content.
If you would like to hire space within our venue, please complete our Events Form giving as much detail about your event as possible.
A member of the Events Team will contact you (normally within 48 hours) to discuss your event in more detail and to provide you with indicative costs.
Once you are ready to make a booking, the Events team will provide a final cost for your event and will issue a Room Hire Contract which should be signed and returned to the College at least 5 working days in advance of your event.

The College’s normal opening hours are
City Campus
- Monday: 8am - 6.30pm.
- Tuesday: 8am - 9.30pm.
- Wednesday: 8am - 9.30pm
- Thursday: 8am - 6.30pm.
- Friday: 8am - 5.30pm.
- Saturday and Sunday: Closed.
Riverside Campus
- Monday: 8am - 6.30pm.
- Tuesday: 8am - 6.30pm.
- Wednesday: 8am - 9.30pm.
- Thursday: 8am - 9.30pm.
- Friday: 8am - 5.30pm.
- Saturday and Sunday: Closed.
Pricing
Please contact our events team who will be happy to discuss your event and provide a price based on your individual needs.
Where your event is outwith the normal opening hours, a building opening cost and staffing costs will be applied to the standard room hire rate.
Catering
The College has several catering outlets within each campus building which are open to visitors during normal opening hours.
Bespoke hospitality for events will be provided by our in-house catering supplier. The Events Team will liaise directly with the Catering team on your behalf to place your order.
We can provide a hospitality brochure on request.
Conference Equipment
All meeting rooms come fully equipped with:
- Projector.
- Screen.
- A laptop with Windows 10 installed
- Microphones.
- Wifi.
We can supply flipcharts, conference pads and pens at an additional cost.
Electrics
All electrical equipment must have a valid PAT test certificate (this also applies to any equipment used by the College or any contractors appointed by the College).
Risk Assessments
Depending on the type of event you are planning, you may be asked to submit risk assessments and to confirm that you have Public Liability Insurance in place.
Car Parking
A very limited number of visitor spaces are available on campus. You must apply for a visitor car parking space well in advance of your booking to avoid disappointment. The Events team can make this request on your behalf.
Parking for Blue Badge holders is not bookable but is available on a first-come first-served basis.
Parking after 5pm is also available at each campus on a first-come first-served basis.
Where no parking spaces are available, we will provide access to the event organiser to drop off and uplift materials.
Speakers
The College’s responsibilities with regard to events and speakers are governed by a wide range of legislative requirements including:
- The duty to have particular regard to the need to ensure freedom of speech, including its obligations under the Human Rights Act (1998)
- The duty to protect academic freedom (Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 2005 )
- The duty to prevent people being drawn into terrorism (Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015)
- The duty (Terrorism Act, 2000) not to arrange or assist in arranging a meeting in the knowledge that the meeting is to support the activities of a proscribed organisation, or is to be addressed by a person who belongs or professes to belong to a proscribed organisation
- The duty to eliminate unlawful discrimination against certain groups, and advance equality of opportunity between groups, (Equality Act 2010)
- Obligations under criminal law eg with regard to use of threats, incitement of violence, inflaming religious or racial hatred
- Obligations under charities law, ie whether the proposed activity is consistent with the College’s charitable objects
- General duty of care to students, staff and visitors, including avoiding placing students, staff or visitors in situations that may expose them to risks to their health and safety.
