Please note - this is a school-college partnership course for school students in S4-S6.
If you're interested in working with children or adults within the care sector, this course is an ideal first qualification.
You will consider how life experiences and social influences affect people and consider the impact this has on care practice. Through examining sociological concepts youā€™ll determine how social influences affect peopleā€™s life chances. You will explore the psychological theories that enable care workers to understand the behaviour of their service users.
You will learn about child protection and the various categories of abuse and neglect that necessitate intervention. You will become familiar with the legal framework, policies, procedures and agencies that are involved in child protection.
You will consider the mental health continuum and gain knowledge of how mental health problems affect individuals and others, and investigate the services available to people with mental health problems.
