EK Management Level Course
City of Glasgow College offers the EK Management Level courses both on-campus face-to-face learning and remote distance learning. Both courses comply with MCA requirements and will prepare you to take the MCA/SQA Engineering Knowledge Management level Motor and General examination.
Our lecturers are all experienced unlimited chief engineers, several of whom have served as marine superintendents or classification society surveyors and sometimes both. They have experience with both two-stroke and four-stroke engines and are well-qualified to teach everything you need to know to pass the required EK management level examination.
There is a weekly guidance session during which you can address any queries you have about course structure, content, access, etc.
The courses run for 7 weeks and prepare you for a specific diet. All courses include course material, power points and notes, and past papers including markers feedback. Additional online resources are all available via our VLE, available 24 hours a day to aid your learning.
On Campus Course
This course is face-to-face on our Riverside campus led by our experienced lecturers.
The topics are delivered through a blend of PowerPoint lectures with written notes, group discussion and question review which addresses question interpretation and solution.
You are encouraged to participate in discussions and raise queries you have to ensure full understanding is achieved before the lecture progresses.
On campus topics are enhanced by visits to our workshops and our fully operational working engine room, which is the only such facility currently in operation at any of the training establishments.
Being on-campus you have access to facilities including our library from which you can borrow reference books, or use it as a quiet study area. Being located on the edge of the River Clyde in the centre of Glasgow, we are within walking distance of all the transport and leisure facilities that a major city has to offer.
Online Course
This course is dedicated to online provision, with the same experienced lecturers, concentrating on online participants only.
The style of delivery is similar to the on-campus course and will be a blend of PowerPoint-assisted lectures, group discussion and past question interpretation and solutions.
You will have access to our VLE platform where you can access course notes and power points along with all the additional reference material which is available for the on-campus course.
There is a weekly guidance session during which you can address any queries you have regarding your course or the college.
You will also have access to lecturers outside of the classroom via email for specific queries, however you are encouraged to raise queries during lectures to ensure full understanding is achieved as the lecture is being delivered.
