Super Seven for Super College in Education Awards
City of Glasgow College has been shortlisted in an incredible seven categories at this year’s Herald Higher Education Awards.
Three of the nominations are from the college’s Student Experience Directorate. They are in the running for:
- Supporting Student Wellbeing Award for Preventing Gender Based Violence.
- Marketing/PR Campaign of the Year for Get Ready for College.
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award for the British Sign Language Action Plan.
The Students’ Association, CitySA, is shortlisted for the Enhancing Student Learning Award, for their academic integrity campaign Learn it Earn it. HNC Healthcare Practice student, Kenny Morrison, is up for Outstanding Contribution from a College Student.
Student President, Bernie Savage, said:
“We are so proud to have been shortlisted for this award which recognises the work of CitySA and the college to support the student learning experience and uphold academic integrity.
“During the pandemic, the number of essay mills significantly increased, and they changed their marketing tactics to target vulnerable students during an already challenging time. We created a college campaign to promote academic integrity and ran this alongside a student campaign to raise awareness and educate students on how to spot these essay mills and where they could access genuine support within the college.”
The college’s Innovation and STEM team has been shortlisted for the Partnership Award for VET Teachers Embracing Digital Disruption, while its Corporate Development team is in the finals for Outstanding Business Engagement in Colleges for its use of the Flexible Workforce Development Fund to upskill staff and boost productivity.
Jacqui Massie, Head of Business and International Development, said:
“We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this award in partnership with our client, Leidos UK. It endorses our college’s ongoing commitment to supporting business and industry through reskilling and upskilling. The pandemic saw us swiftly move our provision online to continue that support through the Flexible Workforce Development Fund, and over these past two years we have delivered over 2,400 courses to approximately 14,000 employees.”
The Herald Higher Education Awards recognise outstanding higher education institutions in Scotland. With a broad spectrum of categories, the awards touch on all key aspects of higher education and help to build future excellence by facilitating the sharing of good practice.
