We are delighted to announce that former student Finley Graham has earned the prestigious Medallion for Excellence in IT Network Systems Administration at the WorldSkills 2024 competition in Lyon. WorldSkills Competitions are the gold standard of skills excellence, often referred to as the 'Skills Olympics' and recognise competitors who, reach the world standard in their field. Finley's remarkable accomplishment reflects their exceptional skills, hard work, and dedication to excellence. Finley said:

“My time being in Team UK has been absolutely amazing and has helped me both develop my soft skills as well as improve my technical ability. Being able to demonstrate my skills to the 250,000 visitors of the venue and representing the United Kingdom on this scale was an absolute honor. Having won a Medallion of Excellence at WorldSkills Lyon 2024 demonstrates my ability to operate above the industry benchmark in IT Network Systems Administration.”

Finley’s passion for technology was evident from an early age, and their commitment to the field has only grown stronger over the years. Competing in both regional and national pre-qualifying heats, Finley’s journey to the WorldSkills stage has been one of perseverance and skill. Their success at the international level is a testament to their talent and dedication.

This achievement is a personal triumph for Finley but also a moment of pride for our entire college community. It highlights the high calibre of talent we strive to foster, and we could not be prouder of Finley's success. Finley further stated:

"My advice for those looking to get involved with WorldSkills is to put in the time and effort to develop your skills and take the risk - you never know what might happen, for example I expected not to get to the WorldSkills 2023 National Finals yet got there and walked out of it with a gold medal in the Network Infrastructure Technician category as well as being invited to join the Squad UK cycle for WorldSkills Lyon 2024."

We extend our heartfelt congratulations on this outstanding achievement and are excited to see all that you will accomplish in the future.
