CITY OF GLASGOW COLLEGE AWARDED EMILYTEST CHARTER FOR GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE PREVENTION
City of Glasgow College has been awarded the EmilyTest Charter, in recognition of its commitment to addressing gender-based violence within its learning community. The EmilyTest Charter Award is a crucial initiative that works with educational institutions to ensure they have the structures, training, and policies in place to support survivors of gender-based violence and build a culture of prevention and safety.
The Charter was set up in memory of Emily Drouet, an undergraduate law student who was subjected to a campaign of Gender-Based Violence while at university, and is awarded to institutions that meet stringent criteria in developing comprehensive prevention strategies, survivor support frameworks, and awareness initiatives.
Fiona Drouet MBE, CEO and Founder of Emily Test, commented:
“I am absolutely delighted to congratulate City of Glasgow College on achieving the EmilyTest GBV Charter Award! The College has demonstrated exceptional commitment and unwavering determination throughout its engagement with this crucial programme, making this recognition well-deserved. Achieving this Award is no small feat, and I want to especially acknowledge Lisa Hardy, Head of Student Support and Wellbeing, for her steadfast commitment to ensuring the College is as safe as possible in terms of gender-based violence prevention, intervention, and support.
“I also thank Paul Little, the Principal, for his strong leadership in prioritising addressing GBV and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for anyone impacted by such harms. This achievement reflects the College's comprehensive and trauma-informed policies, practices, and procedures, highlighting its understanding of the importance of a college-wide approach. Congratulations again to all at City of Glasgow College!”
Paul Little, Principal and CEO of City of Glasgow College, said:
“Receiving the EmilyTest Charter is a profound milestone for us. It serves as both recognition of the work we’ve done and a reminder of the ongoing responsibility we hold. Gender-based violence has no place in education or society, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our community.”
