A Career in... Law
The Legal sector permeates our lives daily, there is no escaping from it! From modern issues such as Brexit to whether or not you have to pay parking fines, to employment rights, something that is of more importance right now during the Coronavirus pandemic. The HND Legal Services gives you the opportunity to study and learn a diverse range of contemporary legal issues, including Criminal Law, Consumer Law, Contract Law and Family Law, and many other areas.
The lecturers on the law course offer a diversity of skills and insights on what it is like to be involved in the profession, whether as a solicitor or otherwise, and you will find soon enough that studying law is not a ‘one track’ career progression route, there are many opportunities – in fact, you will soon realise it is more difficult to actually come across a job area that does not involve law to some extent!
Much like us, law is constantly evolving, there is no better time or place to play a part in than at City of Glasgow College, and opportunity begins here!

Breaking News
- The college recently teamed up with LexLeyton to offer our Legal Services students the chance to take part in an Employment Law Competition. Students had to review a legal scenario and present any legal and ethical issues. Congratulations to winner Ryan Mooney who will present his research at a future law event in Glasgow and visit LexLeyton's Glasgow Office to meet the legal team - an excellent opportunity to network and demonstrate skills in legal research to a wider audience. Thanks to the team at LexLeyton for working in partnership with the college - another great example of the college and industry working in partnership.
- Kirstie Ann Duncan, HND Legal Services won a prestigious financial education prize. Kirstie is the Scotland winner of the F&C Investment Trust Prize. This year the Trust partnered with four universities and colleges around the UK to give students the opportunity to take part in a nationwide competition. The prize aims to showcase students' financial understanding by offering inventive ways to close the UK's financial knowledge gap. Kirstie won the public vote going up against other finalists from the college and won a laptop computer. Her entry will now be submitted into the overall F&C Investment Trust Prize, together with the winners from the other universities. Good Luck Kirstie!
