Overview
The WSET Level 1 is a beginner-level introduction to wine, suitable for those starting a career in hospitality, studying for a hospitality qualification or simply pursuing an interest in wine.
This course provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings.
The course fee includes tuition, wine tasting, examination fee, certificate and lapel badge. You will be awarded the WSET level 1 certificate when you successfully pass the exam.
Examination - 45 minute multiple choice examination paper at the end of the course/day.

- An interest in wine - professionally or as a hobby.
What you study
- The main types and styles of wine.
- Common wine grapes and their characteristics.
- How to store and serve wine.
- The principles of food and wine pairing.
- How to describe wine.
After the course

How the course is taught
This is a one-day course taught over 6 hours (9am – 5pm) with a 45 min multiple choice exam (4pm - 5pm) on the same day as the course.
