Overview

This course will help you develop skills and knowledge about the Travel and Tourism Industry including airline and airport operations, airport check-in, travel agency skills, tour guiding and much more. It will prepare you for working in the industry and is a good foundation for building specialist skills (please see the 'What you Study' section, below, to find out more).

You'll be taught by highly qualified lecturers who have a wealth of experience in Travel and Tourism.

This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 5. 

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • One National 5 qualification at Grade C or above AND two National 4 qualifications including English; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

ESOL entry requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

  • Working as Air Cabin Crew.
  • Airport Ground Operations.
  • Tourist Destinations.
  • Selling Skills.

You'll also study French, German Spanish/Italian and visit local tourism facilities to give you a taste of what Scotland can offer visitors.

After the course

Careers

This course will help you prepare for a career in the Travel and Tourism Industry. Employment opportunities include airport check-in staff, airport ground crew, retail travel agent, and holiday representative.

Continuing Study

Successful students could progress to a higher level course NC Level 6 Travel and Tourism.
