You will explore Hairdressing, Beauty and Make-up Artistry in our state-of-the-art salons.
You’ll learn how to perform professional shampooing and conditioning treatments and how to detangle, section, secure and control hair. As an introduction to the industry, you’ll get to experience, consider the benefits of, and learn how to perform a variety of beauty therapy treatments.
You’ll have the opportunity to express your creativity, build your confidence and develop transferable skills, such as customer service and teamwork, that are valued in the workplace.
You will discover how to create many shapes and styles on hair using the appropriate tools and equipment. You’ll explore and interpret your individuality and style before planning and preparing a style on a mannequin head.
You'll attend additional training opportunities and events with our industry partners.

Minimum entry requirements
This course would suit creative and collaborative team players who are open to learning new skills and techniques. There are no formal qualifications required, just a genuine interest in the Hair, Beauty and Make-up Artistry sector.

Careers
This is a vibrant and popular sector of the economy. Before the pandemic, there were 45,000 salon businesses. Barbers, beauty salons and nail salons were the top three retail categories seeing the highest growth.
Modern Apprenticeships are available in Hairdressing and Barbering.
Continuing Study
On successful completion of this course, you can progress onto further qualifications at NQ Level 5 and 6, leading through to a Hairdressing HNC, a Beauty Therapy HND or an HND in Make-up Artistry for TV, Film and Theatre.
