Overview
If you want to start a career in Barbering then this course is for you!
You'll learn a range of gent’s haircutting techniques to achieve a variety of hairstyles that can be used in industry.
This course is for beginners or people within the industry who wish to add barbering to their skill set. This course will be led by industry specialists and involve interactive practical sessions as well written work.
Please Note:
- You'll have to provide your own clients for practice and assessment (approx. twice a month).
- You'll have to equal your class time with self-study or practice at home.
- You'll also be required to supply your own hairdressing scissors, cutting combs and brushes.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- You do not need any formal experience for this course, however good, verbal communication skills are essential.
- If English is not your first language you will be required to have ESOL Intermediate 2.
What you study
You'll study:
- Practical cutting and finishing and theory leading to closed book assessments.
After the course
Careers
After completing the course, you can apply for barbering positions.

After successful completion of this course, you can apply for other related courses at the college.
Teaching
How the course is taught
One night per week from 6-9 pm with practical group demos and one to one demos then working on block heads and live clients.
