    This course is suited to those who have completed an NPA in Carpentry and Joinery and would like to progress their skills further before applying for our NQ Carpentry and Joinery Level 6 course, as such, there are limited spaces available to external students.

    The course runs for 6 months from January - June.

    On successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a college certificate for NQ Carpentry and Joinery (SCQF Level 5).

    Entry requirements

    Minimum entry requirements

    • NPA Carpentry and Joinery at SCQF Level 5 or equivalent; OR
    • One National 5 qualification at Grade B or above in Practical Woodworking or Metalworking; OR
    • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

    You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area or we'll make an offer based on your application form.

    ESOL entry requirements

    Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

    What you study

    The main projects models for this course are a small simulation staircase and a half size door with mortice and tenon joints. The are other smaller projects include in the course along with practice work for all models.

    You can also develop your skills in communication, numeracy and ICT.
