    This course will help you to develop the skills required for employment in the Aviation, or Airport Ground Industry. It covers everything from customer service and employability skills, to health and safety procedures.

    This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 6.

    Entry requirements

    Minimum entry requirements

    • Three National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above including English; OR
    • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

    Additional selection requirements

    • You must be over 16 years of age at the start of the course as required by City and Guilds.
    • You must be taller than 5 feet 2 inches.
    • You must hold a valid EU passport and the right to work in the UK.
    • You must be fluent in spoken and written English.
    • Some airlines may also supply additional criteria.
    • You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area or we'll make an offer based on your application form.

    ESOL entry requirements

    Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

    • Introduction to Airline/Aviation Operations.
    • Airline Health.
    • Safety and Security.
    • Crew Room Duties.
    • Role of Air Cabin Crew.
    • Preparation for Employment as Air Cabin Crew and Airport Ground Operations.

    You'll also learn languages as part of the course.

    After the course

    Careers

    This course prepares you for a career as air cabin crew or airport ground staff. 

    Continuing Study

    You can also progress onto NC International Travel or HNC in Travel and Tourism at the college. ​

    How the course is taught

    The course will be taught using a variety of different teaching methods such as
    • Lectures.
    • Group work.
    • Industry Visits.
    • Guest Speakers. 
    • Role Play in the cabin.

    Assessment methods

    You will be assessed on an on-going basis using a variety of methods such as:
    • Presentations.
    • Closed Book assessments.
    • Reports.
    • Observation in the mock cabin.
    • On-line e-assessment.

    Dress code

    You will be required to wear the "City Air" cabin crew uniform at least one day a week.
