Overview
This course provides you with an introduction into the Construction Industry. During the course, you'll gain experience and knowledge in a variety of construction trades. To find out what trades you'll cover, please see the 'What You Study' section below.
Your course will be delivered by our highly professional teaching staff with significant Construction Industry experience and a proven track record of bringing out the best in their students.
On successful completion of this course you'll receive an NPA Construction Crafts and Technician (SCQF Level 4).
Students may be offered work placements.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- There are no formal entry requirements.
Additional selection requirements
- You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area or we'll make an offer based on your application form.
ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

You'll learn a range of hand skills and practical tasks in the following trade areas as well as communications and numeracy:-
- Decorative Painting.
- Basic Plastering.
- Basic Tiling.
- Joinery Bench Skills.
- Health and Safety.
- Digital Communications in Construction.
- Mathematics: Construction Numeracy.
After the course
Careers
You can expect to go on to work in the Construction Industry, after specialising in a trade.
Continuing Study
You can apply for an SCQF Level 5 course in a number of trades on successful completion of the course.
