Overview
On this course you'll study the practical and theoretical aspects of Carpentry and Joinery, which will prepare you for working in the Construction Industry. You'll also develop transferable skills such as numeracy and efficient working practices which will help you to get a job in this field.
You'll receive a National Progression Award in Construction from the Scottish Qualification Authority on successful completion of this course which is a recognised National Qualification in Construction.
This course runs for 6 months.

This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 5.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- One National 4 qualification including English, Mathematics, a Science or a Technical subject; OR
- Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

Additional Information
Dress code
For classroom work there is no dress code.
For the practical side of the course, you will be issued with steel toed safety boots and work coveralls. Safety boots are to be worn at all times during practical activities, however workwear must not be worn outside the construction hall or workwear cafe. Students not following this code of conduct will be subject to disciplinary action.
