Overview

In 2021, NEBOSH launched an updated National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety the Gold standard of Health and Safety Qualifications.

This newly streamlined syllabus focuses on core skills providing individuals with the ability to

  • Confidently carry out risk assessments.
  • Develop and implement a detailed action plan.
  • Manage and minimise workplace risks.
  • Support and develop an organisations health and safety culture.

The course falls into 2 sections

Management of health and safety (NG1).

  • Why we should manage workplace health and safety.
  • How health and safety management systems work and what they look like.
  • Managing risk – understanding people and processes.
  • Health and safety monitoring and measuring.

Risk Assessment (NG2)

  • Physical and psychological health.
  • Musculoskeletal health.
  • Chemical and biological agents.
  • General workplace issues.
  • Work equipment.
  • Fire.
  • Electricity.

Delegates will have the opportunity to explore the subject through a mix of training materials and guided discussions / class exercises.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Learners must have a suitable standard of written English.

  • NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.
