Overview

In 2021, NEBOSH launched an updated National Diploma for Occupational Health & Safety Management Professionals the Gold standard of Health and Safety Qualifications.

The NEBOSH National Diploma builds upon the foundation of knowledge gained in the NEBOSH General Certificate. As a valued qualification recognised by employers it is the perfect choice for anyone with a career in Health and Safety.

This course will cover the following areas:

  • Understanding how health and safety legislation is applied and possible enforcement actions that could be taken.
  • Identifying and effective communication of relevant health and safety information.
  • Advising on a range of common workplace health and safety issues including how these can be assessed, controlled and monitored.
  • Developing a health and safety policy strategy (including proactive safety, Corporate Social Responsibility and the change management process).
  • Developing a risk management strategy promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Developing and auditing health and safety management systems.
  • Maintaining individual and organisational health and safety competence.
  • Managing contractors and supply chains to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however it is recommended that learners have passed the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent SCQF Level 6 or 7 qualification.
  • A good level of written and verbal English is required to sit the course. A minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 7.0 (or equivalent) is recommended.

  • ND2 – controlling workplace health issues.
  • ND3 – controlling workplace safety issues.

After the course

Careers

Students will build directly upon their foundation of knowledge in their chosen health and safety career. It is designed to provide students with the expertise required to undertake a career as a safety and health practitioner and also provides a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study.
