Overview
This course allows students to develop technical engineering skills in regard to mechanical engineering. You must have a sound knowledge of Maths.
The course is structured to include a significant practical ‘hands-on’ element as well as associated theory units. You'll have the use of the college's extensive engineering equipment which includes a fully functional mechanical workshop and specialist labs. You'll be taught by highly qualified lecturers who have a wealth of experience within the engineering industry.
After successful completion of the course, you will be awarded an NC Mechanical Engineering.
This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 6.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- Two National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above including Mathematics and a Science or Technical subject; OR
- Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.
