This course is ideal for individuals looking to develop jewellery-making skills for future career opportunities, self-employment, or those interested in changing careers or re-entering the workforce. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this course will build your confidence and enhance your communication and practical skills.

You will learn essential jewellery-making techniques, including sawing, soldering, hammering, roll printing, doming, forming, findings, finishing, and simple stone setting. The skills you gain will be highly transferable, whether you're considering starting your own business or pursuing further qualifications.

Successful completion of this course, along with a positive reference from your lecturer, can support your progression to our NQ Introduction to Jewellery full-time day course or the HND Jewellery programme. This is a great starting point for anyone looking to develop professional skills and explore a career in jewellery or related creative industries.

Minimum entry requirements

  • No experience required.

  • Soldering.
  • Texturing metal, including hammering and roll printing.
  • Doming and forming metal.

The different techniques are taught over the 10 weeks starting with the most basic and finishing with the more advanced.

Materials

A materials fee of £20 is included in the course fee; it covers a limited supply of non-precious metals and materials.  You will also receive information on tools, material and where to purchase them.
