Overview

This Italian cookery course is a favourite at the College. Have you ever eaten at an Italian restaurant wishing you could recreate classic Italian food to impress your friends and family. Now is your opportunity to learn in a relaxed atmosphere.

This 10-week fun programme will show you how to make pasta, pizza, focaccia, risotto, gnocchi, also including Italian classics like lasagne and minestrone soup. What Italian meal would be complete without dessert from simple panna cotta to stunning tiramisu. Your confidence will increase weekly as you work your way through the recipes of regional Italian cuisine. Tricks of the trade and Chef’s tips will make this a fun course to meet and make new friends. Buon Appetito!

Each week your lecturer will hand out a recipe that will provide a list of ingredients you need to buy for the following week.

Minimum entry requirements

No minimum entry requirements.  This is a fun leisure class for amateur cooks to learn different cookery styles and skills.

What you study

Ten weeks of demonstration led cookery lessons including:-

  • Pasta.
  • Pizza.
  • Focaccia.
  • Minestrone soup.
  • Lasagne.
  • Polenta.
  • Risotto. 
  • Salads. 
  • Dressings. 
  • Sauces featuring tomato and pesto.

You will also make desserts such as:-

  • Panna cotta.
  • Tiramisu.

Teaching

How the course is taught

  • The first night will be a practical demonstration by the lecturer and recipes will be issued.
  • You will be required to buy ingredients to bring in with you every week.
  • There will be lecturer led demonstrations every week and also the chance to ask any questions and taste the food.

Additional Information

Materials

All equipment is provided.  Each week your lecturer will hand out a recipe with a list of ingredients you need to buy for the following week.  You will need containers to take your food home in.

Dress code

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear for the kitchen.
  • Apron to protect your clothing.
  • Tea towel for drying dishes.
