Overview
The Higher National Diploma (one-year HND Next Generation) in Software Development focuses on a rapidly growing area within computing, driven by the increasing adoption of digital solutions by businesses and organizations worldwide. As industries such as healthcare, finance, commerce, and entertainment continue to embrace technology, the demand for skilled software developers is at an all-time high. Software development is an ever-evolving field, with new technologies and methodologies that enhance the scope of digital solutions to drive business efficiency and innovation.
This program provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of modern software design, development, and testing techniques. Students will gain hands-on experience with a variety of programming languages and development tools, learning to apply structured methodologies for analysing user requirements and creating software solutions that address those needs effectively.

Minimum entry requirements
HNC in Computing (15 credits) or above.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

How the course is taught
Throughout the HND program, learners will:
- Design and Develop Software: Students will engage in the entire software development lifecycle, from gathering user requirements to designing and implementing software solutions.
