Overview
We are delighted to offer the HND in Fashion Business at City of Glasgow College. This exciting course will equip those with an interest in fashion to understand the various aspects of working in this exciting and dynamic industry. As well as nurturing your entrepreneurial skills and providing you with the knowledge to help set up your own business, you will also learn how to enhance those skills and competencies that are required for the fashion industry. These include how to attract customers and maximise profitability in the retail sector as well as market research and forecasting.
You will also gain an understanding of textiles and garment production, fashion buying, fashion range planning & forecasting, marketing, PR and financial budgeting.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- One Higher at Grade C or above in a relevant* subject; OR
- NC or NQ qualification at SCQF Level 5 in a relevant business subject; OR
- Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
* relevant subjects include - English, Business, Economics, History, Mathematics, Media, a science subject.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

Teaching
How the course is taught
The course is taught on a full-time basis, and you are expected to attend college at least 3 days per week. As part of our Blended Learning Strategy you could also participate in online classes throughout the academic session.
Assessment methods
The course covers a wide range of subjects linked to the Fashion Industry and we focus on assessing our students using the appropriate method. This can include portfolio work, presentations, infographics, written essays and reports, articles and group-based projects.
