Overview
This course introduces and develops the skills and knowledge you’ll need for a career in sports coaching. The principles of good coaching practice are examined and a wide practical and theoretical knowledge of games and sports is developed (please see further information in the 'what you study' section below).
You'll be taught by experienced sports coaching staff with a proven track record of bringing out the best in their students.
On successful completion of this course, you'll be awarded the HND in Coaching and Developing Sport.
The course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 8.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- An HNC Sport Coaching qualification with 15 credits
This ensures you don't need to study additional units to complete the 30 credits in second year.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.
