Overview
This course allows direct entry to year two of the HND Acting and Performance course and builds on the skills acquired in HNC Acting and Performance by developing knowledge and awareness of the craft of acting. It's designed for those who are interested in becoming actors, drama teachers or drama workers.
The course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 8.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- Direct entry to year two may be possible on successful completion of the HNC Acting and Performance with 15 credits and positive recommendation of course tutors.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

After the course
Careers
There is a wide range of career opportunities for graduates, including work in theatre, television, community drama, and theatre production.
Continuing Study
Students who complete their HND may progress to drama schools or universities such as Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh University and University of the West of Scotland.
Teaching
How the course is taught
The course will be delivered using a blended learning model.
You will learn through a mixture of face to face and online teaching, using the college virtual learning environment (VLE)
Practical elements of the course will continue where possible to be delivered on campus in specialist rooms and workshops. Activity on campus will be in smaller focused groups within safe working environments. You should expect to be in the college for part of the week.
Remote (online) learning will be used for subjects that are more suited to this type of teaching. You will need access to a computer or device for this type of learning and access to the internet*. Resources and learning materials will all be available through the VLE although this will still be tutor-led.
*Students with no access to computer or wifi at home will be given alternative options to allow online studying to be possible.
