Overview
If you’re looking for a career in the ever-growing, thriving and dynamic events industry then this is the course for you!
The course will enable you to learn the sector specific skills and knowledge required for a vibrant and exciting career in Events. Studying a highly sought-after qualification, recognised by industry professionals, you’ll study units encompassing a wide range of areas within the sector. By learning through independent study, tutor led-classes, group activities alongside practical hands-on event planning and organising, you will be well placed for a career in the industry or further study.
We have strong links with industry, such as SEC and Live Nation, offering paid employment opportunities, working in events such as conferences, music festivals, promotions, sporting events and much more.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- Two Highers at Grade C or above including one from Business Management, English, Modern Studies, Economics, History or similar; OR
- Relevant NQ Award at SCQF Level 6; OR
- Equivalent qualifications or extensive supervisory/management experience.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

Careers
Previous students have gone on to work in many areas including Charities, Music, Wedding Planning, Conferences, Mega-Events and more. The job roles are varied and include Events Organisers, Wedding Planners, Fundraising Assistants, Promotions Assistants, Ticketing Officers and Marketing Assistants.
The transferable skills also allow access to jobs in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.
Continuing study
Successful completion allows for direct entry to HND year 2 (an additional 3 units will be studied in year 2).

The course is delivered on campus with a blend of both theory and practical elements within the course.
Assessment methods
You will be assessed using a variety of methods including reports, presentations, groupwork and practical activities. These will be both class-based and home-based.
