Overview

This course will give you a broad understanding of recognised business administration procedures and practices. This course is for you if you're aiming for a trainee junior management position in industrial, commercial, or public sector organisations.

Please Note:-

  • You will be required to attend college 1 day per week from 9am - 5pm for two academic years.
  • There is also the option to attend two days per week and complete the course in one year (Fast track) which will have a different fee. Fee waiver funding is not available for this option.
  • The cost shown is for year one of the course only.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • One Higher at Grade C or above AND three National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above in relevant* subjects; OR
  • NQ Business level 6; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or work experience.

* relevant subjects include English, Administration, Business Management, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Modern Studies or a Science subject.

ESOL 

Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

After the course

Careers

Once you have completed the HNC, career options may include trainee junior management positions in industrial, commercial or public sector organisations.

Continuing study

You can progress directly to the second year of the Business HND course (this is delivered on a full-time basis only), or use the HNC qualification to gain entry to a variety of university degree courses.
