Overview
Our one-year HNC Beauty Therapy course is designed to provide you with a range of industry relevant skills with a clear focus on facial and body treatments. The course offers a high-level beauty qualification that will provide you with knowledge of current beauty treatments, product ranges and techniques.
Youā€™ll be taught by a highly motivated and versatile team with a range of industrial experience who deliver world-class, student focused learning.
This course focuses on face and body treatments and is suitable for those who have no prior beauty experience as well as those who have completed courses in beauty, such as nails or lashes, but now wish to gain an HNC in Beauty Therapy.
This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications framework at Level 7.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- 2 Highers at C or above; OR
- NC Level 6 or HNC in any subject area; OR
- Other relevant qualifications or experience.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

After the course
Careers
HNC Beauty Therapy prepares you for a career in the beauty industry, delivering face and body treatments in salons, spas, cruise ships or self-employment. Senior therapists or managerial posts may also be available for HNC-qualified therapists.
Continuing Study
This 12-credit HNC is delivered over two days. Students can progress to the HND, but additional credits must be earned in the second year alongside the standard Year 2 program.
Teaching
How the course is taught
This is a full-time course with class and home study, theory and practical assessments, research projects and presentations, self-directed study and group work.
Committed to helping you achieve your full potential, the team employs a wide range of blended teaching methods to ensure that you are engaged at all levels of study and supported in every aspect of your educational experience. You will work on each other during the initial stages of teaching and will move to work on clients to improve your practical ability and increase confidence as a beauty therapist.
Assessment methods
Practical observations, case studies, assignments, presentations, record cards, restricted response questions and reports. You will work on live clients during your time at college and will also be required to model for treatments yourself.
