Every business needs to keep records of their finances. Effective accounting procedures can provide timely and relevant information to management, helping organisations perform successfully.

This course comprises two areas of study.

Financial accounting: Develop an understanding of preparing routine and complex financial accounting information. Learn about current financial accounting regulations, and how to analyse and apply them to business structures.

Management accounting: Develop an understanding of internal accounting. Learn how to prepare and use information when making decisions about the planning, control and future direction of an organisation.

Studying accountancy equips you with essential skills and knowledge for business, enhancing effectiveness through problem-solving, numeracy, commercial awareness, communication, organisation, financial management, analysis, ICT proficiency, and teamwork.

This course suits students who love a challenge, have an eye for detail and are good problem-solvers. Students should have passed National 5 Mathematics and English.
