Overview

This is a school-college partnership course.

We can only accept online applications from school pupils in Glasgow City. If you attend a different school, please contact use the 'Contact Us' button to get in touch.

This course will introduce you to the business side of retail fashion. This course is not design-orientated but helps develop an understanding of the creative processes of retail fashion and how they're managed.

You’ll investigate the historical and environmental factors that have influenced fashion over the years. You’ll explore the process of how a fashion concept seen on the catwalk becomes a high-street fashion garment.

You’ll consider merchandising approaches in the fashion industry researching how fashion is branded, displayed, promoted and the role of the marketing mix in fashion. You’ll compare different approaches used in the industry and create your own merchandising ideas.

You’ll discover what it takes to be a fashion buyer. You’ll investigate different buying structures, the stages of the buying process and the factors involved in producing a retail buying plan.

You'll have the chance to create, design and implement your own fashion event, or show, to gain the relevant experience and skills.
