Overview

This course is designed for non-native speakers of English who have an interest in working in business, enterprise, and related sectors.

This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Levels 4 and 5.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • National 4 ESOL; OR
  • Can demonstrate proficiency in English language at National 4 (intermediate) level; AND
  • An interest in working in business, enterprise, and related sectors.

Additional selection requirements

  • If applicants are not current ESOL students at the college, they may be required to attend for English language level testing.
  • You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area, or we'll make an offer based on your application form.
  • You'll also need to provide a reference from your current or most recent ESOL lecturer.

ESOL entry requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

What you study

  • NPA Business and Marketing – this qualification includes three units relating to business, marketing and enterprise.
  • National 5 ESOL – this qualification allows learners to achieve an upper-intermediate level of English language proficiency.

Possible employment in the business sector.

Continuing Study

Possible progression onto business and related courses at level 5, such as NQ Business. A full progression pathway exists to courses in business, legal services and social sciences at levels 6 and 7.
