Overview

The art of cake making is one which should be celebrated and enjoyed by people of all ages! Let’s bake your cake and eat it!  With an introduction to cake making methods, preparation of tins and baking materials and different types of cake from plain Genoese to Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake and Rich Fruit Cake.

Learn which fillings, toppings and coatings are the best to complement your creations and learn at your leisure new skills and decorating techniques which will be fully explained and demonstrated to you.  

Enjoy the art of cake finishing when you will experiment with marzipan modelling and chocolate to make your cake look like a real show stopper!

Minimum entry requirements

This is a fun leisure class so there are no formal entry requirements.

What you study

You learn how to bake and finish cakes including - Rich Fruit Cake, Carrot Cake, Lemon Drizzle Cake, Coffee Cake and Chocolate Cake.

After the course

Careers

The College offers a range of leisure classes in Bakery, Sugarcraft, Patisserie and Culinary Arts.

Entry onto full-time Bakery Courses or Day Release Courses.

How the course is taught

This is a practical course and the lecturer will support you baking a range of different cakes, which you can take home and enjoy.

All equipment and ingredients are provided and you will need containers to take your products home.
