Overview
This course covers broadcast television, studio and location work, research, scriptwriting and new media. You'll be well placed to apply for a limited number of competitive internship placements at STV and other local production companies offering valuable hands-on experience in video, broadcast, editing and online production.
The course balances professional level technical production skills and research practice. We have close links with the broadcast industry and you will enjoy the expertise of visiting specialists covering all aspects of TV production and media content, alongside teaching staff, who have direct experience of working in the industry.
Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to grow your development and production skills in drama, entertainment and factual.
You should have completed two years of HND study, or equivalent, before beginning two years of further study leading to the award of BA Honours. Direct entry to year 3 allows further education students to succeed at university.
Run in partnership with the School of Arts and Creative Industries at Edinburgh Napier University, who have a first class reputation for excellence in practice-led screen courses, it is delivered at City of Glasgow College's outstanding industry-standard studio and production facilities and offers students a basic or honours degree in Television awarded by Edinburgh Napier University.
If your application is successful you can apply for the STV and Royal Television Society (RTS) undergraduate bursary scheme. In addition to funding, students attend networking and industry insight events, receive work placements and mentoring sessions, as well as the opportunity to establish a network of industry contacts.

Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- HND Creative Industries TV; OR
- Relevant television experience.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

Assessment methods
All submitted work is first and second marked by City of Glasgow College lecturers, validated by BA (Hons) Television programme staff at Edinburgh Napier and moderated by a shared external examiner.
