JIM HUNTER TO LEAD PROFESSIONAL SOUND OPERATIONS COURSE IN COLLABORATION WITH BBC STUDIO WORKS, QTV AND SCREEN SCOTLAND

City of Glasgow College are excited to welcome Senior Sound Supervisor Jim Hunter to the teaching team. Jim will lead the delivery of a new professional level course, designed to address a recognized industry skills gap. The course has been developed in collaboration with Screen Scotland and key industry partners, including BBC Studioworks and QTV.

As a leading committee member of the Audio Engineering Society, Jim has spent many years promoting education and sharing his knowledge and expertise in the craft of television sound. He brings with him an impressive list of credits, including The Edinburgh Military Tattoo, BBC Hogmanay Live, and The Eurovision Dance Championships, to name but a few. Jim's recent recognition as the recipient of the Royal Television Society Scotland Award for Outstanding Contribution further highlights his contribution to the industry.

The course runs over ten days of intense training and is designed to develop the skills required for trainees to work as TV Sound Assistants in both TV studios and on Outside Broadcast units. As Jim notes, "The industry is growing, and there is an increased requirement for the craft skills to deliver the programs being made here in Scotland. City of Glasgow College has a proven track record of encouraging, developing, and teaching the next generations of broadcasters and filmmakers, so it is the ideal place to base this first of its kind Television Sound Assistant training course."

Jacquie Shaw, Associate Dean for Media, states, "We couldn't have wished for a more qualified and capable tutor for this new course. Jim's addition to the teaching team brings an added in-depth specialism to a team which already has considerable experience of working in television across a range of roles."

Curriculum Head, James Wilson, has been working closely with Jim on the content and delivery of the Television: Professional Sound Operations course. He adds, "It has been a privilege to work with Jim and add this new course to our portfolio."

As the screen industries in Scotland continue to expand, there is a need for capable sound assistants to work in studios and outside broadcasts across the country. With Jim's wealth of experience and expertise, the Television Sound Assistant training course promises to be an excellent addition to City of Glasgow College's offerings.
