Overview
This course will provide you with practical and theoretical skills in a range of vital technology areas such as Cyber Security, Software Development, and IT Services.
With a rapidly growing digital economy there is a need for a workforce with the necessary skillset to match this demand. This course provides a platform to develop your fundamental technical computing skills.
The course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 6.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- Three National 5 Qualifications at grade C or above including English and Mathematics or Computing Science; OR
- Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

Careers
This course is designed to be used as an entry-level qualification for the HNC programmes outlined below.
Continuing Study
Successful students can progress on to one of the following Higher National level courses:
- HNC Computer Science.
- HNC Software Development.
- HNC Cyber Security.
On successful completion of studies at HNC/D level, you will be eligible to apply to degree courses at several universities including Glasgow Caledonian University, University of West of Scotland and Napier University.
