Overview
The International Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management programme is delivered at City of Glasgow College and validated by Queen Margaret University (QMU). This is a top-up programme for graduates of the HND Hospitality Management, HND Travel and Tourism and HND International Events Management programmes who meet the entry requirements.
The first two years of the degree programme comprise the HND programmes mentioned above. The third year will be delivered by the City of Glasgow College when you'll attend classes at college with some visits organised to QMU. If you choose to progress to Year 4 BA (Hons), you will attend classes at the QMU campus in Musselburgh, Edinburgh. The degree will be awarded by Queen Margaret University.
Throughout your time on the BA International Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management programme you'll be a matriculated student at Queen Margaret University and will have access to both college and QMU learning resources.
Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
Successful completion of at least one of the following programmes with C and B* in Graded Units.
- HND Travel & Tourism.
- HND Hospitality Management.
- HND Events Management.
*Minimum pass/grade C for Graded Unit 1 plus a minimum of a B for Graded Unit 2.

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

Equipping you with excellent management skills and practical expertise, this course will put you at the forefront of these exciting industries and a wealth of career opportunities.
This degree can provide an excellent stepping stone to management training schemes of multi-national hotel groups and towards junior management roles in areas in hospitality management - hotels, restaurants, bars, cruise ships, sales and marketing, accommodation services, etc.
Other graduates may choose to pursue careers in tourism management, either with tour operators or in national or local tourism bodies.
Those most interested in events will find roles in festival and events management, arts management, event logistics, conference production, sponsorship management, and charity fundraising, as well as with hotel groups.
As hospitality, tourism and events are global industries, there are great opportunities for international travel at all career stages.
Continuing Study
On successful completion of Year 3 you can apply for entry to Year 4 (Hons) which will be delivered at the QMU campus in Musselburgh.
Teaching
How the course is taught
The course is taught using a mixture of lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical workshops. There will be an element of online delivery, but the majority of teaching will take place on campus at City of Glasgow College. You'll be expected to undertake significant periods of independent learning outside of the classroom to meet the programme requirements.
Assessment methods
Group presentations, reports and essays, reflective exercises, live events, reflective writing, research proposal, business plans and interviews.
